What is type 3 diabetes?
Growing evidence supports the concept that Alzheimer's disease fundamentally represents a metabolic disease in which brain glucose utilization and energy production are impaired. In essence, Alzheimer's disease can be regarded as a form of brain diabetes that has elements of both insulin resistance and insulin deficiency. To consolidate this concept, experts proposed that Alzheimer's disease be referred to as, “Type 3 diabetes”[1].
There have been anecdotal reports of Alzheimer's disease victims improving their symptoms after ingesting coconut oil which probably supplied the brain with ketones as alternative fuel [2] [3].
